EST’s 4th Birthday Party!

April 4, 2020 @ 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
2 Elm Street
Cherri Sanes

On Saturday, April 4 from 11 am – 3 pm, ExtraSpecialTeas at 2 Elm Street, Great Barrington will celebrate its fourth birthday as a teahouse that supports, trains, and empowers young adults with diverse learning differences, such as autism and Down syndrome, to learn, work and thrive in the Berkshires.

Patrick, a program participant and ExtraSpecial Server says, “It is a magical place! It is awesome!”

EST offers opportunities for Patrick and all participants to cultivate community by providing a place to grow essential skills and find purpose in a work setting. Patrick thinks a lot about his future and finds meaning in his everyday life. “I have more confidence now and that is a really big thing for me. I don’t feel so nervous, and I can meet people and make friends. I get a nice feeling in the morning when I know I am coming here to work with my friends.”

April is Autism Awareness Month and April 2 is World Autism Awareness Day.

The Blue Party will run from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 4. Because the birthday coincides with Autism Awareness Month, the theme is blue. All community members are invited to wear blue, post party pictures to Instagram and Facebook (tag @extraspecialteas #lightitupblue #webrewbelonging), and come into the teahouse for FREE SAMPLES of  an “ExtraSpecial” brew of blue tea and gluten-free brownie bites made by ExtraSpecial Servers and staff.

The day’s schedule includes face painting and music from 11 am – 3 pm. The Sunday Strummers Ukulele Ensemble will play 11:30-12:30, Allen Timmons & the EST Singers will play/sing 1-2 and the Berkshire Bateria will play their energizing rhythmic grooves on Elm Street at 2:00 pm. Ashley Whitney, Director of Marketing at Tiesta Tea (www.tiestatea.com) (based in Chicago) will be a very special guest. Tiesta Tea has partnered with ExtraSpecialTeas since 2016.

ExtraSpecialTeas is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Our vocational day program is supported in part by the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services, grants from foundations, and contributions from committed donors.

The community teahouse is open seven days each week and serves hot, iced and bubble teas, and gluten-free treats made by the participants and staff. For more information: www.extraspecialteas.org
